Integrated wafer vortex flow meter

If the fluid does not flow in the pipeline, vortices will not be formed. Once the fluid starts to flow and reaches a certain flow rate, vortices will gradually form downstream of the baffle. These vortices are alternately separated on both sides of the baffle and carried away by the fluid.

A high-pressure and low-pressure zone is formed downstream of the baffle body, and a phenomenon called Karman vortex street appears.

These pressure differences are exactly matched with the frequency of passing vortices and are measured by mechanical sensors. The distance between the two vortices corresponds to the specific volume of the fluid. Therefore, the total flow rate can be calculated by counting the passing vortices. The higher the flow rate, the higher the frequency of the fluid measured.
